Try It! -- Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure Example
Systolic blood pressure refers to the pressure of blood in the artery when the heart contracts. It is the first and higher number in a blood pressure reading.
Diastolic blood pressure refers to the pressure of blood in the artery when the heart relaxes between beats. It is the second and lower number in a blood pressure reading.
For example, if a person's systolic pressure is 120 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) and the diastolic pressure is 80 mm Hg, blood pressure is recorded as 120/80 and read as "120 over 80." 120/80 is considered normal for healthy people.

| Hypertension | 140+ | 90+ |
| High Normal | 130-139 | 85-89 |
| Adult Optimal | 120 | 80 |
| Low | <90 | <60 |

Explanation
Phenomena measured on a continuous scale are almost always subject to limited ranges of allowable values. In addition to excessively high and excessively low values which need to be construed as erroneous entries, there are usually also ranges of high and low values that, while perhaps unusual, certainly occur a small percentage of the time. Such high and low values should be allowed but should be highlighted in order to alert the user to review their validity. In a medical setting, for example, systolic blood pressure above 140 is certainly physiologically possible --albeit unhealthy-- but a value above 210 normally needs to be construed as an error.
The Gladiator Spin component implements a spin widget with such data validation functionality built-in. Values entered beyond threshold warning levels are shown with yellow highlighting, while out-of-range entries are shown in red highlighting and cause display of a modal error box.
